August was a festive month for Indonesian citizens in celebrating Independence Day on 17th August, 2023. Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Bali managed by Discovery Hotels and Resorts arranged some exciting positive activities, started with a community social event by Artha Graha Peduli (AGP), a Nasi Goreng Nusantara employee cooking competition supported by the Human Resource Department, a national flag hoisting ceremony and entertaining games. We were delighted for the range of activities that expressed so much affection and empathy.
Penyuluhan Kesehatan by Artha Graha Peduli (AGP)
Penyuluhan Kesehatan (health counseling) program is the AGP routine activities together with Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel and Arthakes. To celebrate the Independence Day, we organized a health check for elder people and local residents for free and also, we provided the “Nasi Sehat” (healthy rice) including the healthy boiled red egg. This program held for a week and located around different locations of Kuta area. We believed with honesty, integrity, and cooperation, we are able to help the low-income people in having a health checked and counseling by a competent doctor from Athakes. We can make the day better together, especially on this memorable day of Independence Day.
Nasi Goreng Nusantara Competition
The impression and excitement of welcoming Independence Day was also reflected by our passion to cook the delicious and famous National Indonesian dish Nasi Goreng (fried rice). The cooking competition was arranged by Human Resources Department and took place at The Pond Restaurant’s terrace. This special event participated by employees from different departments in order to demonstrated their creativity and support of this special day for our Nation. The jury itself came from our Senior management and invited guests. The winner was chosen based on the preparation, presentation, hygiene, and taste, as well as the story behind their special recipe. This competition developed strong teamwork between each participant and their colleagues as fun and cheerful supports for the team. Nasi Goreng Nusantara is a simple and tasty dish that becomes richer and tastier, when imagination is combined with heart and skill.
Independence Ceremony and Fun Games
The Independence Day ceremony was held in the morning on August 17th at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, and was attended by management and staff. The ceremony was held in our Hotel’s main convention hall due to the rainy weather at that time. Following the ceremony, one of the most anticipated events in Indonesia’s Independence Day celebration was the fun games competition. Each department competed to celebrate the Independence Day, to have a good time, and earn rewards. There were several traditional competition games that became identical with the traditional celebration, such as cracker eating, marble and spoon race, insert the pencil into bottle and balloon dance. The joy of the celebrations was shared not merely by our staff members, but also by our invited guests!
When it comes to the celebration of Independence Day, always brings joy and happiness but also a momentum for Indonesia and its people of this highly significant day. The ceremonies and festivities were held throughout the country!
