Kartini’s Day: Embracing Empowerment and Equality

Kartini’s Day

R.A. Kartini, or more popularly known as Ibu Kartini, was such an iconic figure, and Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel Bali celebrated Kartini’s Day on April 21, 2024, at The Pond Restaurant. This event was attended by guests and staff. The main theme of this year’s celebration was women’s empowerment in Bali.

On this special day, we were proud to present the talented staff from Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, LV8, Discovery Mall Bali, Musro and Bank Artha Graha International performing in the competition of traditional Indonesian costumes on the catwalk and giving brief speeches as individuals referring to what they have done in their lives to empower women. All the participants performed very well, both in the catwalk performance and in their speeches.

The esteemed judges included Mr. Luis Daniel Garcia, our General Manager, Mr. Qemal from Musro, Mr. Stan, and Mr. Candra from LV8. These judges were pleasantly surprised by the excellent performances of all participants. They showed confidence, a positive personality, honesty, and bravery. This demonstrated that women should act and speak as intellectuals in promoting female empowerment and gender equality. The 1st winner of this competition was Ni Made Putri Saraswati and the 2nd winner was Maria Petracia Damiyana Sumarno, both of them from Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel. The 3rd winner was Ida Ayu Surya Jesika Juliantari from Discovery Mall Bali and The Best Costume winner went to Ni Ketut Meidi Evi Ani from Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel.

“We are proud as women that we can embrace the legacy of Kartini and the essence of women’s empowerment such as courage, resilience, and the pursuit of equality. Together, we create a future where every voice is heard and every dream is within reach,” said Ratu Patimasang as Director of Marketing
Communication of Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel during her speech at Kartini’s Day event.

The Kartini’s Day event was a success, especially with the dinner buffet priced at only IDR 214,024++ per person, which also included free entry and a welcoming cocktail at MixClub by Musro. The evening was enriched with excellent performances by Balinese dancers, magicians, and a fire dance show.

This special Kartini’s Day should not be taken for granted, let alone forgotten. It’s a day to remember and honor the spirit of empowerment, equality, and progress that Kartini stood for.
