ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABLE POLICY 2006/2007
We are aware that our business in the hospitality industry has a
close relation with the nature and culture. We strongly believe
that if the nature and culture are not well managed and sustained
it will lead to the vanishing of our industry. Our business plays
an important role and has a great interest in conserving and sustaining
the nature and culture. It is paramount to protect and enhance the
nature and culture for our future generation and to contribute to
the sustainable tourism development.
Below are the
Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel & Villas Bali commitments toward
environment and cultural in order to sustain tourism development:
- Undertake
environmentally practices across the entire operation.
- Commit
to continual improvement and comply fully with the relevant
local and national legislation and also to the international
best practices for Sustainable Tourism.
- Undertake
all actions necessary to minimize the impact to the environment
and to minimize the waste of energy, water, materials such as
paper, and non-biodegradable chemicals through awareness program
and internal management policies.
- Do best
practice to minimize solid waste and waste water, to reduce,
re-use, and re-cycle wherever possible at all levels of operations.
- Minimize
air and other pollutions in daily operations including noise
by installing pollutions prevention mechanism and treatments.
- Ensure
that all goods purchased are environmentally friendly and have
recyclable and degradable containers whenever possible.
- Commit
to provide priority to use local products and services including
to employ persons living in nearby communities.
- Provide
all employees with training and resources required to meet our
environmental objectives.
- Encourage
employee to continue conducting and spreading out environmental
friendly practices in their family homes and their local community.
- Openly
communicate our policies to interested parties and all stakeholders.
- Encourage
our customers, suppliers, contractors and stakeholders to participate
through-out environmentally and socially responsible actions.
- Work together
with others in the tourism industries, public agencies and the
communities to spread out the sustainable environment goals.
- Monitor
and record environment programs regularly and compare our performance
against our policies, objectives, and targets requirement for
Green Globe 21 and Tri Hita Karana Tourism benchmarks.
- Set annual
target for each relevant Green Globe 21 sustainability performance
indicators to make appropriate yearly basis improvements benchmarking.
- Follow
the concept of living in harmony (Tri Hita Karana) whenever
applicable in the management system.
- Review
this Environmental and Sustainability Policy annually and update
when necessary with any changes in legislation, hotel policies
and Green Globe 21 policies.
- Improve
the grade from B to A achievement in Tri Hita Karana environmental
Tourism Award.
