Bringing a more modern sense to the renaissance chiaroscuro method, Filippo Sciscia presents his recent works titled Lux Lumina (Luminous Light) at Kendra Gallery of Contemporary Art from 12th December 2009 – 14th January 2010.
The Italian born artist depicted the three dimensional illusion of his objects not only into the flat surface of canvas, but also on photograph prints and in video motion as he used the contrasting colours of light and shadows as the ’paint’ itself.
The casted light and shadow carved the imagery put one part apparent while the other, hidden. Thus leaving the truthful and real impression through what is seen what is concealed.
Enjoy Sciascia’s exploration of pictorial between paintings as he uses his work as a practice of art that does not only present the problem of representation, but also the specific and philosophical characteristic of the medium. For more information, visit www.kendragallery.com.
